Services by a Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT/RCT-C) are covered by most insurance benefit plans. We recommend that you check with your plans before booking a session. At the moment, we are only providing direct billing to Medavie Blue Cross. For all other insurance providers, we will issue you a detailed paid receipt for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Policies
Payment
Payments are due at the time of the appointment. We accept payment by Debit, Credit and E-transfer. You are able to keep a credit card on file for your convenience. Clients are provided with a detailed paid receipt to submit to their insurance company for reimbursement.
Cancellation Policy
Clients are expected to attend each scheduled session on time. Since appointments involve the reservation of time specifically for you, and out of respect for your therapist and our other clients, a minimum of 24 business hours notice is required for rescheduling or cancelling an appointment.
Any scheduled appointment that is missed without giving 24 business hours notice, will be charged the full session fee. Frequent cancellations and/or missed appointments (2 consecutive) may result in the termination of therapy.

Please email your therapist directly if you need to cancel so that we can fill the appointment time. The more time, the better for the therapist and other clients who are in need.
Exception to Cancellation Policy
In the event of a serious or contagious illness, emergency, inclement weather and loss of childcare, we offer a grace for the cancellation policy. Please keep in mind that sometimes in the event of inclement weather and loss of child care, that the session could be held by phone or virtually. We ask that you try to attend if you can in non-emergent situations.
Health Care Benefits and Insurance
Private therapy services are not covered by Nova Scotia Provincial Health Insurance Card (MSI). However, most insurance providers and employee benefit plans fully or in part cover our services. Please contact your provider prior to your session to verify how your plan compensates you for services known as ‘Registered Counselling Therapist’, ‘Registered Clinical Therapist’ or “Counselling”.
Crisis Situations and Contact Policy
Private therapy services are not designed for crisis situations. Therefore, it is not expected that your therapist is available for calls, email or text contact outside of their regular business hours. Clients may have prior arrangements with their therapists for exceptions on how to communicate with them if they are in crisis.
If you are a current counselling client who is in crisis, please contact the Provincial Mental Health and Addiction Crisis Line at 1-888-429-8167, or go to your closest emergency department. Please keep your therapist informed on your situation by email with URGENT in the subject line and I will respond as promptly as they can.
