A BIT ABOUT THERAPY
Therapy, also known as psychotherapy or counselling, is an evidence-based treatment that includes a variety of techniques and interventions that can help improve a wide range of mental health complaints by providing ways of coping with difficult emotions and experiences. It can also be helpful for people who are seeking self-development or to help manage life transitions, relationship or family issues, career changes and grief. Therapy is generally 1-hour in duration. During this time, an individual will work with a therapist on their individualized treatment plan. The length and frequency of treatment will vary depending on the individual or complaint.

OUR TREATMENT METHOD
Therapy treatments provided at Wellness Couch Counselling combine methods from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and somatic-based interventions. This combination targets the cognitive, behavioural and physical symptoms that accompany many mental health complaints and is highly effective to treat and alleviate symptoms/problems long-term. You can use the arrow to learn more about each of these treatment methods.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT)
CBT can help individuals connect the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. This treatment helps reduce problematic patterns of thought that contribute to negative emotions and behaviours. CBT involves learning and practicing new behaviours, such as problem-solving skills or relaxation techniques, that can help individuals to better manage their emotions and cope with difficult situations.
